2022 in Review: Top Trucksafe Content
2022 was a big year for the trucking industry and a busy one for us at Trucksafe! We met a lot of great carriers and safety professionals this year and were honored to help our carrier clients on a number of compliance-related projects. We produced and published well over 100 hours of DOT-related content across our various platforms. We developed a couple of new courses through our Trucksafe Academy. We launched our Trucksafe Compliance Network and hosted a bunch of free educational webinars. We published a ton of articles and appeared on several industry podcasts and livestreams. And we couldn't have done it without your support! So, from the Trucksafe team, thanks so much for following along, and please feel free to reach out if there's anything we can do to help!
Without any further ado, here are our top achievements from 2022...
Top 5 Trucksafe articles from 2022
FMCSA to eliminate certificate of violations requirement | Our top post from 2022 concerned the FMCSA's elimination of the annual certificate of violations report, one of the few times the agency has relaxed regulatory requirements on carriers over the past several years.
FMCSA clarifies key brokerage definitions | Another popular article (and one of our more recent ones) concerned FMCSA's regulatory guidance on what constitutes property brokerage and when so-called "dispatch services" require brokerage authority. We also dedicated one of our Trucksafe LIVE! episodes to this very topic.
FMCSA provides details on 18-21 year old apprenticeship program | 2022 was the year the FMCSA stood up its Safe Driver Apprenticeship Pilot Program to allow a limited number of 18-21 year old drivers to operate commercial vehicles in interstate commerce. We relayed the details in this article and also in one of our YouTube videos.
What are chameleon carriers? | Another popular article this year was our detailed breakdown of regulations governing so-called "chameleon" or "reincarnated" motor carriers and the consequences that flow from carriers setting up or using new USDOT numbers for an improper purpose.
FMCSA mulling tweaks to ELD rules | One of the more surprising news stories of 2022 was FMCSA's request for public comments on potential changes to its electronic logging device (ELD) rule. These would be the first major revisions to the ELD rule since its implementation in 2017.
