All commercial motor vehicles operated in interstate commerce (including trailers) must be inspected at least annually. The inspection must include, at a minimum, the parts and accessories identified in 49 C.F.R. Part 396 (Appendix G). Inspections must be performed by an individual meeting the qualification requirements in 49 C.F.R. 396.19 & .25 (as applicable). A copy of the inspection report should be kept on the vehicle at all times.
